Tools

Below is information on the tools I use the most to make what I make. I try to use the smallest number of tools to complete a project.

Saws

Disston panel saws borrowed from my dad 🙂. Also used as needed is a flush-cut saw and backsaw.

Axes and Knives

Small felling axe, “Woodcraft” by Council Tool Company in North Carolina. Large carving axe by Gränsfors Bruk in Sweden. Small sloyd knife and hook knife from Pinewood Forge in Minnesota.

Small adze from Seven Pines Forge in Pennsylvania.

Large(r) sloyd knife from Mora Knives in Sweden.

Chisels/Gouges

Very inexpensive set of Irwin chisels that have served me very well for all of 2020.

Ashley Iles No. 9 Straight Gouge (1 inch). Purchased from Tools for Working Wood in New York City.

Ashley Iles No. 5 Straight Gouge (3/4 inch). Purchased from Tools for Working Wood in New York City.

Measuring

I have three dividers that I use constantly. Pictured below is the small divider.

Circles, half-circles, arches, etc. are all determined via this very nice compass.

Miscellaneous

This large tool tote was made entirely by axe, knife, chisel, and gouge.

Shop-made mallet.

Small egg-beater drill.

My large set of dividers in-use along with a very nice pencil and 24″ square-rule.
